ZooFort - what we are up to...

We thought we should share what we have been up to since our last release, along with some details on a bug we had to get fixed which proved very difficult.

So... most of our time has been spent on fixing  what we consider, a game breaking bug with the jet pack physics (more details later).

In the next update (0.1.4) , you will be able to alter your graphics settings.  You will be able to alter your  window style (windowed/windowed full screen/full screen), be able to show fps, change 3D rendering detail and also resolution. There are a few things we need to do to open up the sound settings, so this is still very much WIP.

The bug... 

We can't tell you what we call it internally as, well... That kind of language just isn't appropriate here.  You may of noticed when using the jet pack,  a lot of stuttering when ascending.  This is due to the client/server nature of the engine we use and how the server keeps track of the clients positions in the world.  If the server thinks the client is 'out of position' it tells the client to correct and gives it the information needed to tell it where to be.  

This is what causes the stutter in our current versions, and this is the hardest bug we have had to fix.  How we had previously coded the jet pack worked fine in earlier engine versions, but a recent update to the engine broke this for us.  This meant we had to come up with another way of doing it...which we have!  In our next version we are 99% sure we have resolved this and now all clients should have a much smoother game play experience while using the jet pack.

We were hoping to of released 0.1.4 already but we just could not release another version that had the jet pack bug in it.  We are hoping to release 0.1.4 at some point this week...all being well!
